This Frozen Peppermint Yogurt Dip is a delightful treat that combines creamy yogurt with refreshing peppermint for a guilt-free indulgence. Perfect for any gathering or a quiet moment of self-indulgence, this dip is sure to impress!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups full-fat plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup (or honey)
  • 1 teaspoon pure peppermint extract (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies (or candy canes)
  • Red food coloring (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Peppermint Candies: Place about half a cup of peppermint candies (or candy canes) in a sturdy ziplock bag. Using a rolling pin or the flat side of a meat mallet, gently but firmly crush them until they are mostly fine crumbs with a few slightly larger pieces for texture. Set aside.
  2. Combine the Base: In a medium-sized mixing bowl, scoop in your full-fat plain Greek yogurt. Add your chosen sweetener (maple syrup, honey, etc.), starting with the recommended amount and knowing you can adjust later. Now, add the peppermint extract. If you're using it, add a tiny drop of red food coloring and the optional vanilla extract now.
  3. Mix Until Smooth: Using a whisk or a rubber spatula, thoroughly mix all the ingredients together. Stir until the sweetener is fully dissolved, the peppermint extract is well incorporated, and if you used food coloring, the mixture is an even, pretty pink hue. Taste a small spoonful and adjust the sweetness or peppermint extract to your liking.
  4. Fold in Crushed Candies: Gently fold about two-thirds of your crushed peppermint candies into the yogurt mixture. Stir just enough to evenly distribute the candies without overmixing.
  5. Prepare for Freezing: Transfer the peppermint yogurt mixture to a freezer-safe container. A shallow dish or an airtight container works best. Spread the mixture evenly with your spatula.
  6. Freeze to Perfection: Place the container in the freezer. Freeze for approximately 2 to 3 hours, checking for a firm but scoopable consistency.
  7. Serve and Garnish: Once the dip has reached its ideal consistency, remove it from the freezer. Scoop generous portions into individual serving bowls or a larger communal bowl. Sprinkle the remaining crushed peppermint candies over the top for a beautiful presentation and an extra burst of minty crunch. Serve immediately with your favorite dippers!

Nutrition

Keywords: For a lighter option, low-fat Greek yogurt can be used, but the dip may be less creamy. Adjust the sweetness to your preference, as flavors can dull when frozen. If using dairy-free yogurt, be mindful of its freezing behavior.
