Delicious Caprese Skewers Recipe: Fresh & Flavorful Appetizer

Caprese Skewers are a vibrant and fresh appetizer that combines juicy tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, and fragrant basil on a skewer. Perfect for gatherings or a casual snack, these skewers are quick to assemble and sure to impress.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini)
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp balsamic glaze
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Skewers (wooden or metal)

Instructions

  1. Start by washing the cherry tomatoes under cool running water. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
  2. Take the fresh mozzarella balls and drain any excess liquid. If they are large, you can cut them in half to match the size of the tomatoes.
  3. Take a skewer and begin by threading one cherry tomato onto it. Follow with a basil leaf, folding it if necessary, then add a mozzarella ball.
  4. Repeat this process until the skewer is filled, leaving some space at the ends for easy handling. Aim for 2-3 sets of tomato, basil, and mozzarella per skewer.
  5. Once all your skewers are assembled, place them on a serving platter. Drizzle them with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic glaze.
  6. Sprinkle salt and pepper over them to enhance the flavors. You can also add a few extra basil leaves for garnish.
  7. If you desire a smoky flavor, heat a grill or grill pan over medium heat. Place the skewers on the grill for about 1-2 minutes per side, just until grill marks appear and the mozzarella starts to soften.
