Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
  6. Fold in the maple syrup to give the cookies that signature French toast flavor.
  7. Using a tablespoon, scoop the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.
  8. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
