Delicious Churros with Salted Toffee Sauce Recipe to Savor

  • 2 inches of oil for frying

  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of butter for toffee
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 1/2 cup of butter, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour. Mix until a ball forms and the dough pulls away from the sides of the pan.
  3. Allow the dough to cool for a few minutes, then add 2 beaten eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until smooth.
  4. In a deep pan, heat about 2 inches of oil to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting them to your desired length.
  6. Fry the churros for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  7. In a bowl, combine 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon. Roll the hot churros in this mixture until fully coated.
  8. In a saucepan, melt 1 cup of brown sugar and 1/2 cup of butter over low heat, stirring constantly until it reaches a smooth consistency. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
  9. Pour the toffee mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and let it cool completely until set.
  10. Melt your choice of chocolate in a microwave or double boiler, stirring until smooth.
  11. Dip the churros in the melted chocolate and drizzle with the toffee, or serve the toffee on the side for dipping!
