These Chicken Cream Cheese Croissants are a delightful blend of flaky pastry and savory filling, perfect for brunch or as an elegant appetizer. With tender shredded chicken and creamy cream cheese, they deliver impressive flavor with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ to 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or finely diced
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Dried dill, chives, or parsley, to taste
  • Optional: finely chopped fresh chives or green onions
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons finely shredded cheese (mild cheddar or mozzarella)
  • Optional: a tiny pinch of red pepper flakes
  • Optional: a dash of non-alcohol white wine vinegar alternative or a squeeze of lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded or finely diced cooked chicken, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and your chosen dried herbs.
  3. Mix all ingredients together until well combined and smooth. Adjust seasonings if needed.
  4. Open the can of refrigerated crescent roll dough and unroll it onto your prepared baking sheet or a clean work surface.
  5. Take about 1 to 1 ½ tablespoons of the chicken cream cheese filling and place it onto the widest end of each dough triangle.
  6. Starting from the wide end with the filling, gently roll up each dough triangle towards the pointed end, pressing the tip down to seal.
  7. Place the rolled croissants seam-side down on your prepared baking sheet, ensuring there's space between each one. Optionally, brush the tops with an egg wash.
  8. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown and puffed up.
  9. Remove from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Nutrition

Keywords: Ensure cream cheese is at room temperature for a smooth filling. Avoid overfilling the croissants to prevent them from bursting during baking. You can prepare the filling a day in advance and store it in the refrigerator.
